Scoring a job in Odesk may seem impossible at first, but once you learn the tricks you'd be happy to realize there's indeed money in working from home.
Like I mentioned in my previous blog entry, I’d be sharing a lot about my Odesk experience in the coming days and how I am beginning to find comfort in doing what I do now. It’s been over a month since I started working actively on Odesk and while there are times I’d feel too lazy to continue the advantages of staying at home, working, and earning far exceeds the lost time commuting to and from work, budgeting on food and transportation allowance, enduring heavy traffic, worrying about tardiness and absences, etc.
But are all people signing up for Odesk achieve success? How does one manage to get as many clients and projects while another simply wait in vain for another more months until about ready to give up before s/he scores a project?
Believe it or not, just like any other jobs, working on Odesk comes with a lot of patience, good negotiation and communication skills, a valuable profile, and tons of hard work and discipline. Here I’d like to share what I learned so far and how it helped me get more projects on hand:
1. Create a marketable profile. Simply saying “I am a good writer and can write original content on various topics” is not the best you can do to get clients’ attention. Odesk is very much well known these days and the competition has become tougher than it was two years ago. Highlight specific skills. Saying “I am a seasoned writer with 6+ years experience in writing original content, re-writing, article spinning, and SEO copywriting” is a much better way to grab a buyer’s attention and decision to message you their interest in getting your service.
2. Start on a lower rate. Believe it or not, but when I created my profile back in April of this year with a starting rate of $3/hr, no buyer dared to hire me amidst the sea of job applications I’ve done. One by one my application were rejected until I decide to lower it to $2/hr. Sadly, none of the buyers were still interested, until I decided to go for $0.90/hr. The logic is quite simple, if you are just starting and no previous projects to show off just yet, humbly take down your rate.Your goal is to pin a project and do well with it so that your first client gives you good feedback and continue working with you. As soon as you have shown buyers that you are a reliable contractor, you’d be surprised to see how many of them will start noticing and hiring you. The more in demand you become the more reason you can raise your rate per hour.
3. Deal with clients courteously. Remember, they are the one giving you work so make sure to deal with them appropriately from the moment you write your cover letter up to the time you completed the project. Listen to their instructions and ask questions. They’ll respect you more for that.
4. Complete your projects on time. Most clients will start by giving you trial projects to see how you work and if everything goes they can increase your weekly work hours and pour in some more assignments. Commit to their deadline. However, if you feel they are giving unreasonable time limit, politely air your opinion and give suggestions. A lot of the buyers I’ve worked with and are still working with value their workers’ opinions especially if it’s going to benefit their business.
5. Keep updating your skills and profile. Just because you are already getting a lot of buyers doesn’t mean you have to stop there. As you work with many buyers you learn more and it adds up on your portfolio. See what skills many buyers are looking for. If it’s SEO then learn how to do it. Many tutorials are now available online that will help you become an expert about something. Take advantage of these materials. The more updated your skills and profiles are the more in demand you become. And that means the more income you generate.
So there, I hope that works for your, too. Goodluck
I am so happy that I have finally reached the minimum payout amount of Neobux. But what makes me even more happy is when my request for payout 5 minutes ago was completed via my Paypal account.

my Neobux payment proof
Geez, I’m so excited with this one because out of the many paid to click sites I joined recently, Neobux is one of the very few legitimate ones I came across with. I know it’s just $1.96 but it’s a good start, right?

The economic crisis is still far from being over. Which means that anything will help us earn additional income we’re just so happy to grab it. And speaking of earning you would only trust the legit ones, right?
I’ve come across numerous paid-to-click sites recently, and out of 10 only 2 are considered legit. One of these few legit PTC sites is called Neobux.
Before I joined this site I did some Googling first to check on feedback and comments. And I’m just glad that so far, all of the comments I read positively attest that they got paid. Neobux has some good reviews under its belt. While you cannot easily achieve the minimum payout of $2 for the first payout, it’s worth your time.
For one, their minimum payout consistently displayed in the Help page. All terms are easily understood. Right now, I’ve already earned $0.49 and counting. You, too, can earn if you have the patience rather than fall victim to those paid-to-click sites that are nothing but scams.
Admit it, if there’s any easy-money way you’re the first to grab it. And when we talk about easy-money, paid-to-click sites are the first to come to mind.
But don’t sign up just yet. These days only 20% can be considered legitimate PTC sites, the rest are scams. Below are just three of the many paid-to-click sites that promise to pay, but truth is, you’re just wasting your time:
STORM OF CASH – they show hundreds of paid-to-click ads in their members’ area. Ads range from $0.0005 to $0.0001. But the one thing that would really attract you to sign up is their very low minimum payout: $0.10 for Paypal and $1.05 for Alertpay. But the truth is they really do not pay. You will just waste your time clicking for ads and when you reach $0.10 and ready to request payment you will notice that the minimum payment that would register in your account would change to $0.50 or who knows even more higher once you achieve the current payout.
1DOLLAR PTC – another scam to high heavens. First thing, if you visit their Help page, it’s blank. Then their TOS would say “The cash earned in your accounts is not actual money. Payouts are based on the income of the site.” Says their minimum payout is $5,000. Fine, this is achievable in less than 5 days since they have over 500 PTC ads whose earnings ranges from $6 to $1. But once you nearly achieve their minimum payout, you will notice that the minimum payout amount in your account would change from $5,000 to $25,000. This site is a BIG waste of your time, so don’t even try to sign up anymore to see for yourself. Just Google other members comments who got scammed!
PERFORMANCEBUX – same thing, they won’t pay. You will just waste time, effort, and electricity.
To save you time and avoid having your personal info spread online, check the list of legitimate PTC sites before making a choice. It would also help if you read members’ feedback, whether good or bad, they are valuable.
These days PTC sites — paid-to-click — abound in the world wide web. But the question is: which are legit and which are not?
One of the PTC sites I’ve joined recently is Cash of Storm. And why not, they have achievable pay out scheme. Unlike other paid-to-click sites, their minimum pay out is only $0.10 for Paypal.

I have a Paypal account and I want to see if these PTC sites really pay. And since Cash of Storm is one of the very few PTC sites that has very low minimum payout then I guess it’s worth all the clicks. But I was surprised when at a time where I’m supposed to request for payment, the minimum payout under my account has changed from $0.10 to $0.50. Which means I cannot request a payout yet with my current earnings of $0.13310. See my details below:

Right away, I decided to stop clicking on their ads. What they say on their FAQ page in terms of payout if very deceiving. It’s not worth your time!
I signed up in InboxDollars last month as part of my money-making activity and so far enjoying their service. For this month my earnings reached $5.75. Not bad for a beginner like me, huh!
Apart from the $5 sign up bonus, my earnings in InboxDollars came from answering their surveys, which are pretty easy and don’t consume so much of your time.
I’d be posting more of my other money makers list, so watch out!
Earlier today I was chatting with a friend who’s also into the money-making business of blogging. And generously he introduced me to using Socialspark. At first, I hesitated to sign up for an account thinking it’s going to be just one of those online-meeting services I’ve been coming across with since I started using the Internet.
What’s good about Socialspark though is that you don’t just meet new friends from all across the globe. The site boasts with so many opportunities you can browse on, not to mention their affiliate program which are both good ways to earn money!
Yipee, I found another great opportunity for bloggers like me. It’s as simple as getting paid to write a review on products and/or services and post it in your blog. I’m talking about Buyblogreviews.com!
It works pretty much like SponsoredReviews, where you bid on opportunities in category where you have registered your blog. Once your bid is approved by the advertiser you can proceed to writing your review. And when it gets approved by the advertiser, then your payment is on your way. Right now though they only pay through Paypal, but hopefully they can have other payment methods in the future.
Today I registered my blog and only after approval (which could take 72 hours) will I be able to start bidding on opportunities. I can’t wait to get started with their list of opportunities real soon.
These days there are just so many ways to earn online. You can get paid from writing products/services reviews, answering online surveys, playing online games, and many more. And now, sharing pictures to your friends can also earn you some bucks.
I’m talking about Shareapic — a free online service that allows users to upload, share pictures and earn from it. It won’t hurt to go over their FAQ sheet which provides helpful information to get yourself oriented about how the service works and how you can get paid by simply sharing pictures. What’s more: they have a referral program that allows you to earn 10% from their image views. Pretty easy huh!

I haven’t given so much thought about leaving comments on blogs I frequently follow. Each time I visit any of my favorite blog to check on a recent post it’s always enough for me to just read an entry and then hop to another blog.
You see, I have very little interest when it comes to commenting on a blog entry or any website article no matter how interesting the topic may seem. Unless I have a question, I really won’t bother to say anything more.
It’s not until recently that I discover the wonders it can do to my own blogs and to those of other bloggers. By leaving a comment to other people’s blogs, you somehow encourage and invite them to take a peek on your own blog, which equates to driving traffic.
A little caution though, do not just leave ANY comment like “I like your blog” or “Niceblog.” Your comment should be a little more specific and concise. Meaning, tell them why you like their blog or an entry and how it relates to your interest. You’ll be surprise how some of them will be quick to visit your site as well and even add you up to their blogs list.
Wandergirl is Cherrylie in real life. She’s been so obsessed with blogging and the word “wanderer.” She has since used this pen name after reading it from a novel (about a free-spirited girl who just so love to travel) some years back.
